Charlie Coffeen is a composer and keyboardist in Chicago, best known for his work with Chicago group Sidewalk Chalk. For the last several years, Charlie has put together an ensemble to pay a live tribute to one of his greatest influences - the legendary producer J Dilla. The ensemble performs his most iconic album "Donuts" start to finish. We were excited about this project and invited Charlie and his band to come in to our performance studio and play selected songs from J Dilla’s “Donuts”.
